Lambda Pi Eta Inducts New Members for 2017 and Cords Graduating Seniors

At the CMN Department’s Scholarship and Awards Ceremony on April 9th, 2017, Lambda Pi Eta, the national honorary society for Communication Studies, inducted new members and presented cords for seniors to wear at graduation.

Lambda Pi Eta represents what Aristotle described in The Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion. The L is for logos, meaning logic; the P is for pathos, relating to emotion; and the E is for ethos, defined as character credibility and ethics.

Goals of Lambda Pi Eta

  • Recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies
  • Stimulate interest in the field of communication
  • Promote and encourage professional development among communication majors
  • Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication
  • Establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students
  • Explore options for graduate education in communication studies

To be eligible for membership, students must have completed 60 semester hours in undergraduate courses; have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0; and have a GPA of at least 3.25 in the Communication major.

Communication Day, 2017

Faculty, staff, and students came together to celebrate Communication Day which included music, performances, and practical and applied panels.
